Omul tînăr nu este, ci devine; numai despre omul bătrîn se poate întrucîtva zice că este, fiindcă a fost şi s-a dovedit...Tinereţea este întotdeauna o enigmă, vîrsta matură o dezlegare a enigmei.
( The young man is not, but becomes; only about the old man we somehow may tell he is, because he have been and proved....The young age is always a puzzle, the old age a solution to this puzzle.)
